Sufmi Dasco Ahmad was born in Bandung, West Java, on October 7, 1967. He completed his primary education at SD Negeri 66 Palembang from 1973 to 1979, followed by SMP Negeri 43 Jakarta and SMA Negeri 2 Manado, where he graduated in 1985.

Dasco studied Electrical Engineering at Universitas Pancasila and earned his undergraduate degree in 1993. He later pursued further education in law, earning a Bachelor of Laws from Universitas Jakarta in 2009, a Master of Laws from Universitas Islam Jakarta in 2012, and a Doctorate in Law from Universitas Islam Bandung in 2015.

Professional Career

Before entering politics, Dasco built his career in the business sector. He later transitioned into and developed his career in the legal field alongside his legal studies.

He practiced as an advocate and was actively involved in various legal activities, including the study of electoral disputes. This experience formed an important part of his professional background before and during the early stages of his involvement in politics.

Building Gerindra

Sufmi Dasco Ahmad has been involved with the Great Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra) since the party's establishment.

In 2008, he was appointed as one of the members of the Central Executive Board (DPP) leadership of the Gerindra Party, overseeing organizational and membership affairs until 2014.

He subsequently served as Deputy Chairman of the Gerindra Party's Central Executive Board for Legal Affairs and Advocacy. During the 2019 Presidential Election, he was appointed Director of Legal and Advocacy for the national campaign team of Prabowo Subianto and Sandiaga Uno.

Sufmi Dasco Ahmad currently serves as Daily Chairman of the Gerindra Party's Central Executive Board (DPP).

House of Representatives

Sufmi Dasco Ahmad was first elected as a member of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia (DPR RI) in the 2014 Legislative Election, representing the Banten III electoral district, with 56,323 votes.

During the 2014–2019 term, he served on Commission III of the DPR RI, which oversees legal affairs, human rights, and security.

On October 30, 2014, Dasco was elected Deputy Chairman of the Honorary Board of the House (Mahkamah Kehormatan Dewan/MKD) and was subsequently entrusted with leading the MKD.

He was re-elected as a member of the DPR RI representing the Banten III electoral district in the 2019 General Election, receiving 99,002 votes, and again in the 2024 General Election, receiving 119,692 votes.

Deputy Speaker of the House

In 2019, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad was appointed as one of the Deputy Speakers of the DPR RI for the 2019–2024 term.

During this period, he coordinated the DPR's work in the economic and financial sectors, overseeing Commission XI, the Budget Committee (Banggar), and the State Financial Accountability Committee (BAKN).

On October 1, 2024, Dasco was again appointed as Deputy Speaker of the DPR RI for the 2024–2029 term.

During his second term as Deputy Speaker, he has carried out coordination and oversight functions in the implementation of the DPR's institutional responsibilities, including discussions on policies and issues concerning the public interest.

In 2024, he was also entrusted with leading the Prabowo–Gibran Transition Synchronization Task Force as part of the preparations for the transition to the new administration.

Academic Work

In January 2020, Dasco was appointed Rector of Universitas Kebangsaan Republik Indonesia (UKRI) in Bandung.

Previously, he taught law at Universitas Azzahra from 2016 to 2018 and later at Universitas Pakuan in Bogor.

On December 2, 2022, he was formally appointed as a Professor of Law at Universitas Pakuan.
